Finnlay Davis: Model Off Duty

Fashion
In the menswear shows just gone, Finnlay Davis has walked for brands like Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Valentino and Issey Miyake. He is currently the star of the Coach campaign. In the next of our series with Jonathan Daniel Pryce, we collaborated with the Vogue street style photographer for a special portrait and two-part interview. Scroll down to find out his view point of the shows, and head to Garcon Jon for the other half of the interview.

Where do you live now?

I live in Dalston. It is probably one of the best places in London. It is a very trendy area, there is a lot going on. Nightlife is good. It is a cool place. I moved there from Essex when I was still at school, so I had to travel an hour and a half for school every day. Then I decided to go to college for two, three months and before I decided to do modelling full time.

How do you pass your time at castings?

Friends, your phone. Yeah that is what helps me get through. I know a lot of people in the industry, people from all over the world. It is cool, it is a good experience to have.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The power of being able to run really fast. To run really fast or to be able to skip time. That would help me a lot.

What music are you listening to right now?

At the moment I am listening to grime. A bit of London grime. When I am going out, I am listening to a bit of drum and bass. Travis Scott is probably one of my favourites, I listen to him a lot. ASAP Rocky is probably one of my idols. I have seen him live a few times. I’ve met him a few times through Jonny [designer JW Anderson]. He’s a cool guy.

What advice would you give when it comes to modelling?

With modelling, I would say the best advice I could give is to be professional, stay focused, don’t lose yourself in the game and just be positive. All around.
