Silvia Deho, Head Of Scouting At Women Milan
In her role as Head of Scouting at Women Management Milan, Silvia Deho is in charge of finding young women who have the potential to become the top models of tomorrow. Women Management is a model agency in the Elite Model World Group. Alongside Elite Model Management, The Society, Women 360 and Supreme, these agencies form a global network that makes Elite Model World the foremost model agency on the planet. And new for 2019, applicants to EML will now be considered by agents from all agencies within the network. We sat down with Silvia to learn more about her job, her journey into the industry and how to find a top model.
What are you most looking forward to about EML Italia 2019?
First of all, EML is a great experience for me! It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to have this experience and to have the opportunity to discover Italian girls who can enter the fashion industry from a unique stage!
What do you look for in the applicants at the castings?
One thing that is fundamental nowadays is personality, and it is even more important than beauty. There are so many new faces around, there is a lot of demand, so someone who has an interesting personality stands out. We are looking for a combination of easiness, character, personality, and something unique. It could be the way she smiles, a certain kind of energy, the way she poses or the way she talks.
What attracted you to the model industry?
I started in modelling by chance, after finishing high school where I studied foreign languages. However, I immediately became passionate about this industry. It takes a lot of energy to work in modelling, but it is also very exciting!
What do you love about your job?
It is a job that I love because every day is different and rewarding.
What are the challenges?
The challenges are from my point of view as a scout is to find the girl, the new face. It takes a balance between organization, diplomacy, empathy and management. It is a lot of work, but I love it.
What are your passions outside work?
I love spending time with my children and my family, I love travelling, reading and doing sports.
If you didn’t do what you do now, what would be your dream job?!
I could never imagine doing anything else!
What is your advice to anyone applying to EML in 2019?
It is absolutely fundamental to believe and have confidence in ourselves. It is a skill that you need to develop, especially at a young age, because in modelling, you need to learn not to let it get to you when you hear the word “no”, and it is a word you will hear a lot in this business. But I always say, it is the no that makes you grow!
